Channing Tatum planning ‘Ten Year’ reunion
Written by jess on August 26th, 2010

A new generation of talent is getting ready to tackle the high school reunion movie.

Channing Tatum is working with Jamie Linden and producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill on “Ten Year,” an ensemble drama about friends reuniting a decade after their graduation.

Linden, who wrote “We Are Marshall,” is penning the script and will direct. He also wrote “Dear John,” which starred Tatum and was based on a Nicholas Sparks novel.

Tatum has been heavily involved in the development process. He also will star and join Temple Hill in producing the film with his 33andOut Prods. partner Reid Carolin.

The script is being written with specific actors in mind, with a partial list including Tatum’s wife, Jenna Dewan (“Step Up”); pals Anna Faris and her husband, Chris Pratt; Chris Pine; and Scott Porter (“Friday Night Lights”).

There are no deals in place for the actors, and involvement will depend on availability. The indie production also is assembling financing, though the filmmakers are hoping to begin shooting in November.

Tatum, repped by UTA and Management 360, is shooting “The Vow” with Rachel McAdams in Toronto.

Linden is repped by Paradigm and Magnet Management.

Stephen Sommers to Direct ‘G.I. Joe’ Sequel
Written by jess on August 4th, 2010

“G.I. Joe” director Stephen Sommers will return to direct Paramount’s sequel, an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.

There had been some doubts about whether Sommers would be brought back into the “Joe” fold, as there were conflicting reports across the blogosphere last summer that there had been some tension between Sommers and the studio, but the alleged bad blood appears to have been resolved.

Channing Tatum is expected to reprise his role as Capt. Duke Hauser in the sequel, which is still in development at Paramount.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Collider reported earlier this year that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (“Zombieland”) were hired to write the sequel, and I’m told that the studio is happy with the draft they turned in.

Sommers will likely produce with Lorenzo di Bonaventura.

“G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” grossed more than $300 million worldwide last year on a reported production budget of $175 million, not including prints and advertising.

Sommers previously directed “The Mummy” and “Van Helsing,” and he has a “Tarzan” movie in development at Warner Bros.

Sommers is represented by WME.

Vow in Rachel McAdams & Channing Tatum’s Future
Written by jess on June 18th, 2010

Talk about power pairing! The gorgeous Rachel McAdams, 31, and hunky Channing Tatum, 30, are set to team up in August on the heartbreaking and uplifting true story The Vow.

Based on the real-life saga of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter, as told in the same-titled book, the plot takes off after the couple is hit from behind by a fast-moving truck and Krickett is left in a coma. Upon waking she has no memory of her new husband, so the pair must rebuild their relationship from scratch.

Channing is currently shooting the Ron Howard film Cheaters with Vince Vaughn, Jennifer Connelly and Winona Ryder in Chicago. McAdams is set to begin filming the Woody Allen flick Midnight in Paris with Adrien Brody next month.

Channing Tatum Cast As A Junkie in ‘What’s Left Of Us’
Written by jess on May 20th, 2010

In further Oscar bait casting news, GI Joe star Channing Tatum has signed on to play a heroin junkie in an adaptation of Richie Farrell’s novel What’s Left Of Us. The actor has taken on dramatic turns before in films such as Stop-Loss but this role would see him stepping out of his hard body/pretty face comfort zone. He is actually quite effective in A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints which leads me to believe he has the potential to pull this role off.

Farrell will be adapting his own novel  which takes course over 7 days of heroin detox. The author previously directed the documentary High On Crack Street for HBO.

The film is being produced by Berkley Square Films.
