Vow in Rachel McAdams & Channing Tatum’s Future

Friday, June 18th, 2010

Talk about power pairing! The gorgeous Rachel McAdams, 31, and hunky Channing Tatum, 30, are set to team up in August on the heartbreaking and uplifting true story The Vow.

Based on the real-life saga of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter, as told in the same-titled book, the plot takes off after the couple is hit from behind by a fast-moving truck and Krickett is left in a coma. Upon waking she has no memory of her new husband, so the pair must rebuild their relationship from scratch.

Channing is currently shooting the Ron Howard film Cheaters with Vince Vaughn, Jennifer Connelly and Winona Ryder in Chicago. McAdams is set to begin filming the Woody Allen flick Midnight in Paris with Adrien Brody next month.

Channing Tatum Cast As A Junkie in ‘What’s Left Of Us’

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

In further Oscar bait casting news, GI Joe star Channing Tatum has signed on to play a heroin junkie in an adaptation of Richie Farrell’s novel What’s Left Of Us. The actor has taken on dramatic turns before in films such as Stop-Loss but this role would see him stepping out of his hard body/pretty face comfort zone. He is actually quite effective in A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints which leads me to believe he has the potential to pull this role off.

Farrell will be adapting his own novel  which takes course over 7 days of heroin detox. The author previously directed the documentary High On Crack Street for HBO.

The film is being produced by Berkley Square Films.

Is the G.I. Joe Sequel Heading for Summer 2012, Too?

Friday, April 30th, 2010

The MTV Movies Blog had a chance to talk to producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and got a status report on the planned sequel to Stephen Sommers’ summer 2009 hit G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, which grossed $300 million last summer. Although writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have yet to submit a full script, di Bonaventura is optimistic they’ll be ready to start shooting the G.I. Joe Sequel sometime next spring for a summer 2012 release.

Otherwise, Bonaventura didn’t have a lot to say and was unwilling to confirm who might direct the sequel, which actors may be back and whether they might join the current trend by shooting the movie in 3D, although he did say he was “open to it.”

Channing Tatum And Keira Knightley Approached For ‘Captain America’ Roles

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Last month, “Captain America” director Joe Johnston said casting of the title role was only weeks away and even suggested that the process would be completed before March 1st.However, not only has Captain America not yet been cast, several actors have recently been added to Marvel Studios’ shortlist, including — Chris Evans, Garrett Hedlund, Wilson Bethel and Mike Vogel. And before those rumors have even begun to cool down, another name has been added to the mix.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Channing Tatum has been officially approached by Marvel to star in “The First Avenger: Captain America.” Tatum’s star has been on the rise since last summer’s “G.I. Joe” film in addition to his more recent movie “Dear John”, which knocked “Avatar” out of first place earlier this year.

Tatum was previously under consideration to appear in “Thor” and has made no secret of his desire to play Steve Rogers on the big screen.

“I would love to play Captain America,” Tatum told MTV News. “I actually really, really would love it. I love Captain America. I’m not a big aficionado on him, but I know who we was, and I like him as a character.”

“Pirates of the Caribbean” actress Keira Knightley has also been approached to appear as the female lead in “Captain America.” The Hollywood Reporter identifies the character as Betsy Ross — who was one of Captain America’s early love interests in the comics and later became the superheroine called Golden Girl. However, the role has also been rumored to be Peggy Carter, a French resistance fighter who fell in love with Cap during WW2.

Deadline is also reporting that Alice Eve and Emily Blunt are also in consideration for the female lead. Additionally, there is reportedly little movement towards finalizing a deal for Hugo Weaving to appear as the Red Skull, which was announced last week.
