Channing Tatum, Blake Lively and Jude Law set to star in The Side Effects for Steven Soderbergh
For a man who is supposed to be on the verge of retirement, director Steven Soderbergh sure is making a lot of films. HAYWIRE is coming on January 20th and the male stripper film MAGIC MIKE is following later this year. Next up for the busy director is the psychological thriller THE SIDE EFFECTS (formerly titled “The Bitter Pill”) from screenwriter Scott Z. Burns. To aid him on his adventure, Soderbergh has set Channing Tatum, Blake Lively and Jude Law to star in the film.
The basic story is about a woman (Lively) that turns to prescription drugs to deal with her husband’s impending release from prison. Tatum will play the husband while Law will play the woman’s psychiatrist. This will mark the third time Soderbergh and Tatum have worked together, previously teaming up on HAYWIRE and MAGIC MIKE and the second time he and Law have worked together (CONTAGION). Shooting on Effects is set to start in April for a release in 2013.
