Organic Skin Care – Are Organic Products Always Safe to Use?

Use of sunscreen is among the numerous ways you can reduce the risk of developing skin cancer. While some sunscreens offer a lot of protection and are safe, some don't offer protection and could be hazardous for your health.

Certain organic skincare products through AlphaOrganicsInc are rated SPF which means they have sunscreen. SPF stands for sunburn protection factor. Broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB radiation is recommended. If you plan to spend longer than 15 mins in sunlight, consider an SPF rating of at least 30 to be used on all exposed surfaces.

However, it is not recommended to apply makeup or creams for your skin with SPF ratings regularly. They may hinder Vitamin D production and cause the deficiency of vitamin D to become chronic and is the cause of osteoporosis and Alzheimer's, as well as high blood pressure, and many other ailments that are usually considered to be "age-related".

Many natural products for skincare include oxybenzone, and they have an SPF level due to it. Oxybenzone is an organic compound. The compound is "organic" but it's not "safe". It is not protected from UVA radiation and offers only minimal protection against UVB.

It's been proven to increase the production of free radicals in the presence of sunlight. Because free radicals constitute the main causes of cancer, this substance is called a "photocarcinogen" which is a chemical that causes the development of cancer when it is exposed to ultraviolet light.
