As more and more growers are choosing LED grow lights for indoor growing, there have been many new products introduced on the market. Although the benefits of cultivating with LED lights are enormous, there are some warnings to consider. These are not negative considerations, just considerations to gain more and more efficient.
One of the benefits of LED grow lights is the decrease in temperature. Although this is good for many reasons, you must be ready to compensate. The ideal growth temperature is a range of 70 to 80 degrees. When changing traditional LED lights, plants may require additional heat source to maximize growth and flowering.
This can be a heat mat underneath, or a slight increase in room temperature. The ideal soil temperature is about 73 degrees; once this is reached, then plants should do well during indoor growing.
Producers should also be aware that once the heat source from traditional culture lights has been eliminated, evaporation is (almost) eliminated. On watering is a common mistake of new LED producers. On watering can cause problems of intake of nutrients.
The best way to handle this is to make water with the plants. Maintain the water level and let the plants establish well. If the growth medium is saturated, plants will not need to establish a large root.
